Essex derby goes to Dockers

Romford 1, Tilbury 2 TWO goals in the last four minutes saw the Dockers bounce back from their midweek League Cup defeat with this Essex derby success.

After a goalless opening half at Aveley, the hosts took the lead midway through the second period when Chris Thomas scored from close range after an assist from Toran Senghore.

But Tilbury hit back and got on terms after 86 minutes when Joe Keith fired home from a controversial free-kick.

From that point on it was anyone’s game and Romford came close to snatching it when central defender Matt Toms saw his header clip the crossbar.

Tilbury clinched the points, however, when Christian Wheeler netted with a deflected header.

The Dockers stand 11th in the table and will look to push higher up the standings during the remainder of the season.

Tomorrow they visit a Potters Bar Town side who are two places and five points behind them from two games less.
