Dockers earn share of spoils

Tilbury 2, Cheshunt 2 Dockers shared the spoils in this league clash on Saturday after at last clinching last season’s East Anglian Cup on Thursday.

The final was hosted at Chadfields and was held over from the 2008/09 campaign.

The game saw Southend United kitman Steve Par-menter, the former Canvey Island midfielder, score the Dockers’ opening goal against Halstead Town.

The Ridgeons Eastern Counties Division One visitors levelled and went ahead in extra-time before the Dockers, who also collected the Ryman League Cup last season, won the game with goals from Chris Stowe and ex-West Ham and Southend favourite Lee Hodges.

It was Hodges who grabbed a spectacular 90th-minute equaliser in Saturday’s clash with Cheshunt.

Jamie Wallace had given the Dockers a 16th-minute lead from the penalty spot, but Bradley Stamp and Matt Thomson edged the visitors ahead as Tilbury missed a second penalty.

But Hodges levelled for the hosts with that late effort.
