EASTER Monday provides a trip for fans of Thurrock to a good old fashioned football stadium.

Maidenhead's York Road ground dates from 1871 and has been acknowledged by the Football Association as the oldest continuously used senior football ground in the world.

Maidenhead struggled in their first two seasons in the Conference South gaining a reprieve from relegation in 2004/2005 due to Hornchurch going into administration but succumbed as noted above in 2005/2006.

Their return has seen them staying just above the relegation zone but probably a little too close for comfort with only a five point cushion and they will be desperate to stay up this year if only to break the habit.

Thurrock were hosts to Maidenhead on 22nd December for what should have been an early Christmas present.

At 80 minutes Thurrock were cruising with a 2-1 lead and looking likely to add a third when the Grinch came along to steal Christmas. A clumsy challenge by Rob Swaine saw a second yellow card and his dismissal along with Hakan Heyrettin from the bench. A penalty and a 94th minute winner gave Maidenhead a 3-2 victory.
