THURROCK were held by fellow play-off candidates Haringey Borough as the battle to secure a top five spot intensifies.

Fleet had fallen behind against sixth-placed Borough, only for Mark Onyemah to drive home an equaliser in the second-half.

The home side looked more threatening in the early exchanges, with Jack Barham the most likely outlet for Mark Stimson’s men.

But Borough took the lead on 29 minutes. A ball was only half cleared and Ralston Gabriel ran onto a through pass and slotted past Bobby Mason.

Ronnie Winn’s powerful strike was blocked away by away goalkeeper Will Viner as Fleet searched for an immediate response but they trailed at the break.

Winn shot over, although Gabriel missed a golden chance to double the lead with Mason making an excellent last-ditch save.

Fleet equalised with 17 minutes remaining. Winn fed Onyemah and he twisted and turned before driving the ball inside the far post.

Viner made a miraculous save to stop Joe Christou putting the hosts in front, while a Haringey defender almost sliced the ball into his own net.

But it was to be a point apiece come full-time, with Fleet five points inside the top five.
