A SECOND half fightback from Thurrock saw run out comfortable winners against Soham Town Rangers.

The visitors took a first half lead when a goalmouth scramble resulted in Will Lawton poking home.

Fleet were back on level terms less than two minutes into the second half through midfielder Mark Onyemah.

George Lawton lost possession of the ball when under pressure from Charlie Stimson, and Onyemah fired into the back of the net.

Thurrock then went on the attack to kill the game off and maintain their promotion push.

Fleet missed opportunities, with Soham attempting to hold on for a point but Thurrock eventually broke Soham’s resolve on 67 minutes.

Stimson nodded in at the far post from a David Cowley corner, before Cowley completed the scoring three minutes later.

Thurrock boss Mark Stimson said: “It is another good three points.

“It was a good performance against a very hard working Soham team.”

After Tuesday’s night’s home clash with VCD Athletic, Fleet travel to local rivals Romford on December 28.
