Thurrock 2-1 Bury Town

From Ship Lane

Ryman One North

THURROCK moved into second place in the Ryman One North as two goals in two minutes saw them get the better of Bury Town.

Fleet had made sure of their play-off spot but they wanted to assure themselves of a top two finish with a positive run heading into the end of month showdowns.

Bury Town had little to play for in mid-table but were not going down without a fight and they made the better start.

Indeed they got the first goal after just seven minutes with Nick Ingram finding the net.

But Thurrock hit back in the final two minutes of the half. Danny Francis scored just 60 seconds before the interval to level the match but Fleet weren’t done yet.

Ross Wall, who has been in sparkling form in recent weeks, grabbed the second goal in stoppage time to put Mark Stimson’s side in front heading into half time.

There was a notable moment in the second half as Charlie Stimson returned from a broken metatarsal suffered in November, just in time for the play-off tilt.

And 2-1 was how it stayed.

Thurrock: Madden, Morgan, L Clark, Baker, Sutton, Toner, J Clark (Agombar), Spence, Wall (Gleed), Cowley, Francis (Stimson)
