SAM Higgins scored his 200th goal for East Thurrock United on the night they rose to the top of the Ryman Premier League.

Higgins scored in the 90th minute to reach the landmark and make it 4-2 against Met Police, after James Walker had hit a brace early on.

Walker hit the first inside the opening 15 minutes, before adding his second of the evening on the half hour mark.

Higgins continued his fine scoring form for the season soon after, although Met Police scored before half-time and midway through the second-half to make it interesting.

But the evening belonged to Higgins as he netted for the 200th time as Rocks held on to rise to the summit.

In the Ryman One North, Thurrock were comprehensive winners against Witham Town.

Fleet were 3-0 victors, with Ross Gleed handing Mark Stimson’s side the lead at the interval.

Further strikes from David Cowley and Ronnie Winn ensured the points to lift Thurrock back into the play-offs.

It looked as though Tilbury were set for a share of the spoils at Wroxham, only for a late goal to burst their bubble.

The Dockers were 2-0 down at the break, only for goals from Jack Carlile and Greg Cundle to bring parity.

But Nick Davey struck with two minutes to go to life Wroxham out of the relegation zone.

It was a disappointing night for Aveley, as they were beaten 3-1 by Haringey Borough.

It was 3-0 to the Londoners until the final few moments, when Liam Nash hammered home a fine, late consolation.
