Thurrock 3-1 Barkingside
From Ship Lane
Ryman One North
THURROCK started their season with a win as they aim to go one better than last season and win promotion.
Fleet beat Barkingside 3-1 in their league opener, as Mark Stimson eyes a return to the Ryman Premier, with Ross Wall, Lewis Clark and Leslie Thompson netting the goals.
Two goals came in the first 22 minutes of the encounter at Ship Lane, with the final goal coming at the end of the encounter.
Wall got the first, after he was the star of the show for Thurrock last season, as he benefitted after some good work in midfield to slot home after 14 minutes.
Soon after it was 2-0, and it was Clark who burst forward from the back to get the goal.
It looked as though they were going to be in for a comfortable afternoon, but it wasn’t so as Barkingside continued to press.
Aundre Spencer pulled one back with 20 minutes to go but Thompson had the last laugh, as he blasted home impressively.
Thurrock: Madden, Duncan, L Clark, Anderson, Sutton, Morgan (Thompson), R Clark, Spence, Francis (Gleed), Wall, Orth (Fontaine)
