Thamesmead Town 2-2 Thurrock

THURROCK’s play off hopes suffered a set-back as they dropped two points at mid-table Thamesmead Town.

At the business end of the season, Fleet had been looking to make it four wins in a row after a terrific run of form brought them back into play-off contention.

However, Mark Stimson’s side came back from losing positions twice to take what could prove to be a valuable point.

Mead took the lead on nine minutes, when Michael Uwez pounced on a loose free-kick and shooting beyond Jordan Warren.

Fleet responded and it was a cracking goal that brought parity, with Remi Sutton lashing a fierce shot from 25 yards beyond the home goalkeeper.

Jack Hopkins restored the home side’s advantage after the half-hour mark, after a long throw from Uwez. Hopkins crashed into the post for his troubles, but was fit to continue.

Joe Christou shot over before Charlie Stimson sent an effort off target.

It was all Thurrock, with Rob Budd impressing in the Mead goal but the goal came as the clock ticked towards 90.

Leslie Thompson played in Rob Clark and he passed beyond Budd to draw the visitors level.

Thurrock: Warren, Goode, Clark, Waters (King), Sutton, Christou, Thompson, Spence, Menga (Clark), Wall, Wanrer (Stimson)
