Golfer Craig is flying high in the States

YOUNG Thurrock golfer Craig Isabel has just finished his season in America on a high, by earning the Florida Sun Conference Player of the Year honours.

The award was given to Craig after he closed out the season by finishing second in the inaugural Region XIV Championship, held in Lake Wales Florida.

The Langdon Hills Gold Club member, fired rounds of 73, 75 and 70 which put him three shots behind Colombian Dave Tobon.

Finishing the year ranked as the number one collegiate mens golfer in the Florida Conference, Isabel has just been ranked 44th in the NAIA National rankings, with a scoring average of 73, for 31 rounds of competitive tournament play throughout the 2007/08 season.

Craig and his teammates are heading off to Play in the National Championships final to be held in Indiana, USA May 13 to 16.
