Nerves-stretched as Ryman duo face relegation cliffhanger
TILBURY and East Thurrock have stretched their relegation battles to the last day of the season, but both face a nerve-wracking Saturday.
East Thurrock's hopes of survival in the Ryman Premier rest on them winning at Harlow, Carhsalton not winning against Tonbridge and Maidstone and Folkestone drawing.
"It's a tall order but we have to do our bit and win at Harlow, which is something we are well capable of if we play as well as we did against Ashford on Saturday," said manager John Coventry.
A win for Tilbury at Arlesey is likely to be enough to save their Ryman Division One North status, provided relegation rivals Ilford don't win their game at home to Witham by a three goal better margin than Tilbury.
The third club in the relegation battle, Wivenhoe, face Waltham Abbey.
Aveley bring down their Divison One North season at home to play-off chasing Bury Town and are expected a big contingent from Suffolk to watch.
After a stunning win at Newport on Monday, Thurrock bring down the curtain on a successful Blue Square South season which has first shown consolidation and then progress when they entertain play-off hopefuls Eastleigh.
Grays, who entertained Rushden on Thursday evening, complete their Blue Square Premier season in Yorkshire where they face Farsley Celtic in a match that kicks off at 5.15 to start at the same time as the Setanta televised fixture.
