LAKESIDE Hammers are ready to go ahead of the 2018 campaign.

The Vortex Hammer begin on Friday (March 23) with the Rico Spring Classic at 8pm before the Championship Shield match at Peterborough two days later.

Riders Nick Morris, Ben Morley, Adam Ellis, Kyle Newman, Richard Lawson, Zach Wajtknecht, Alfie Bowtell, Gino Manzares, Max Clegg, Edward Kennett, Jason Garrity and Steve Worrall are all in action on Friday.

And Lakeside Hammers co-promoter Jon Cook is looking forward to seeing competitive action back at the Arena Essex Raceway.

“We’re all looking forward to seeing Friday night racing back at The Raceway after what seems like a long winter,” he said.

“Everyone involved with the club is excited at the potential of our new team in the Championship, whilst the Rico Spring Classic gives all of our boys a bit of competitive action ahead of the opening Shield Clashes against Peterborough and our old rivals the Ipswich Witches.

“As a club we’re all pulling together to make this a memorable season, both on and off track.”

Gates open at 6pm with the pits open to all until 7pm.

Admission for adults is £17, concessions (OAP’s 65 and over, disabled, unemployed, 17/18-year-olds in full education and students over 18), £14 students (16 and over) £8, kids (8-15) £1, seven and under free.

Programmes cost £3.
