SPEEDWAY: LAKESIDE Hammers have announ-ced a number of programmes to boost numbers at the track. The Purfleet club’s community programme has announced that, for the fourth year in a row, Wickford-based Ruggles & Jeffery Ltd are the Lakeside Hammers principal Community partners.

And this guarantees the Hammers can offer their ‘Kids for a Quid’ admission to every home fixture in 2014. And in a new move the club is also revamping its supporters club.

Co-promoter Jon Cook said: “We are delighted to announce that a group of fans have already expressed their interest in developing this new venture.”

The first meeting of the would-be supporters took place last week with the Hammers’ community manager Mark Sexton at the Park Inn Hotel in North Stifford. Sexton can still be contacted via: marksexton@lakesidehammers.com.

l FOR the fourth year in a row, the Hammers community programme is deeply involved in supporting Thurrock Council’s flagship educational and enterprise project called “Thurrock’s Next Top Boss.”

More than a dozen of Thurrock’s major companies work hand in handwith students from across the borough’s schools and colleges on the scheme. Hammers are partnered with students and staff at the Pupil Support Service in South Ockendon.

Youngsters involved in the scheme are finding solutions to real world business problems. Thurrock’s Next Top Boss Celebration event is scheduled to take place in March For all the speedway news see the THURROCK GAZETTE every Thursday
