A THURROCK Brownie group has raised more than £100 for Little Havens Children's Hospice by auctioning their homemade cakes to family and friends.

The 3rd East Tilbury Brownies auctioned off their brownies, buns and cakes to the highest bidders as part of the charity's 10th Birthday celebrations and Brownies who took part got their Adventure Badge.

Little Havens' Comm-unity Fundraiser for Thurrock, Donna Byrne, said: "The enthusiasm of the Brownies really caught on and I even found myself bidding for fairy cakes!

"It was a lovely event that helped raise much needed funds for Little Havens, which relies on the generosity of the local public."

Around 10 per cent of referrals to the Thundersley based hospice come from Thurrock.

It will cost £2.1 million this year to continue the care, which is entirely free of charge to those who need it.
