THURROCK schools made a splash in a swimming gala recently.
On Sunday July 6 Thurrock's primary and secondary schools descended on Impulse Leisure's Blackshots swimming pool in Grays.
The event was sponsored by Impulse Leisure and organised by Thurrock Swimming Club on behalf of Thurrock sports council as part of their come and try initiative'.
Around 270 swimmers took part in the event, which was watched by a capacity crowd.
Thurrock swimming club member and organiser of the Gala, Lyndsey Motin, said: "We have been impressed with both the standard of the swimmers and the enthusiasm and support each school team put into the event."
The primary schools kicked off the afternoon with 14 schools taking part from all over Thurrock.
Deneholm Primary in Grays were the first school to taste success winning the Girls 4x1 medley in fine style with Stifford Primary swimming a great race to take the 3rd place slot and little Thurrock romping home in 4th.
Chafford Hundred's Warren Primary then saw themselves take maximum points when they were victorious in the Boy's 4x1 medley relay.
Not to be out done Tudor Court Primary, also based in Chafford Hundred, made their mark in the competition by winning both the boys and girls individual freestyle events.
The second half of the day saw the borough's senior schools come together for a display of top class swimming.
The girl's team from William Edwards in Grays proved a force to be reckoned with by winning the senior schools girl's trophy.
The boys team from Gable Hall School in Corringham proved that they could match anything the girls could do by also having a fantastic day winning the boy's competition overall to lift the senior boy's trophy.
