GRAYS Athletic's hopes of going on an extended FA Cup run were dashed as they were beaten by Hertford Town after extra time.

First half goals from Perry Dunn and Jamie Slabber were not enough, as Hertford Town were able to secure a 3-2 win at Parkside.

Hertford Town will now go on to face AFC Hornchurch in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup at Grays' expense.

Dunn, who has impressed for Grays since joining in the summer, put the home side into the lead after just four minutes.

But Tommy Wade, who grabbed Hertford Town's equaliser in the original first qualifying round tie on Saturday, got the visitors back on level terms with 12 minutes on the clock.

However, Jamie Stuart's side were to go in at the break with a one-goal advantage thanks to Slabber finding the back of the net just before the half hour mark.

Charlie Edwards was able to find a way past Grays goalkeeper Lamar Johnson on 64 minutes, and that goal sent the clash to extra time.

Hertford Town subsitute Daniel Ferrigno grabbed what proved to be the winner eight minutes into extra time.

And Grays were to end the match with ten men, as Suley Zuhdu was shown a second yellow card one minute before the interval.

The hosts were unable to notch an equaliser in the dying moments despite some sustained pressure.

Grays Athletic: Johnson, Mahal, Cross, Cogan (Folkes 78'), Dunn, Wilson, Zuhdu, Cole, Bishop, Hughes-Mason (Brown 98'), Slabber (Carlos 69')
