GRAYS Athletic are one defeat away from relegation to the Ryman North after they were beaten 3-1 by Enfield Town.

Blues must now win at Wingate & Finchley on Saturday to stand any chance of remaining in the Ryman Premier League next term.

Enfield went ahead with just 15 minutes on the clock. Some neat footwork saw Sean Shulton make his way into the area and finish past Amadou Tangara with a scuffed finish.

The same man tapped in a second 10 minutes later, with an easy finish following a centre across the six-yard box.

Grays were not giving up without a fight. Isaac Layne was proving a tricky customer but the goal came from an unlikely source.

Defender Chidi Williams-Agunabor stabbed home from close range, and the same man then hit the bar as the hosts pushed for a leveller.

In the second-half, Harry Ottaway was kept out by Tangara as the pressure grew, and Joe Payne was off target up the other end.

Nathan McDonald did brilliantly to keep out namesake Campbell, but Ottaway got a third with 10 minutes left to end the contest.

Grays Athletic: Tangara, Mahal, Payne (Baxter 83’), Stuart, Williams-Agunabor, Campbell, Kabobola (Nouble 59’), Watkins (Sarpong 70’), Layne, Bishop, Carlos
