GRAYS Athletic manager Jamie Stuart has starting building his backroom staff after Keith Levett was appointed the club’s new assistant manager.

Levett, a well-respected coach who previously worked with Welling United, a role he combined with the Director of their academy, will be Stuart’s assistant after speaking to a number of candidates.

And Levett, who has also managed at Sevenoaks Town, was assistant at Chatham Town and runs a Sports Coaching Academy in London, said he was excited to join the new Grays project.

“I am excited about the opportunity to work with Jamie Stuart,” he said. “Grays Athletic is a club with a great history and I feel fortunate to be part of it going forward.”

Stuart echoed Levett’s sentiments and said his personal relationship with his new assistant meant his appointment made sense.

“It has been a hard decision selecting my assistant as there were a number of people interested in coming to work with me,” he said. “However, I know Keith really well and we have that level of trust which I feel you need to make a great partnership.

“Keith is a very technical coach in terms of his analytical and statistical knowledge and I know that the team and I will benefit from his skills and input.”

Stuart added he was looking to bring several senior players in the coming weeks, with a view to helping out in the coaching department.
