FORMER Grays Athletic striker Freddie Ladapo is on the cusp of a move to Crystal Palace, after his goal scoring exploits in non-league football caught the eye of the Premier League giants.

The 23-year-old was a revelation for Blues when he joined on loan from Kidderminster Harriers at the start of the 2014/15 season and went on to net 17 times in 35 matches in all competitions.

His displays earned him a move to big-spending Margate and he hit the ground running in the National League South, and has already scored more than 20 goals.

The striker, who did not play in the Bank Holiday Monday defeat to Concord Rangers, was spotted by Eagles scouts and was asked to trial with the club at their Beckenham base.

Ladapo hit a hat-trick for Palace’s Under-21 side recently and, having already turned down a move to the top level of the non-league football with Grimsby Town, he is now looking to secure a professional deal at Selhurst Park.

Elsewhere, former Grays midfielder Nathan Ferguson has moved on loan to Dartford from Burton Albion.
