Brentwood Town 1-2 Grays Athletic
From the Brentwood Arena
Ryman Premier League
TWO late Kenny Beaney goals handed Grays Athletic a much-needed three points against Brentwood Town.
Blues had been under the cosh in the early exchanges, with a couple of nervy moments for returning goalkeeper Lamar Johnson.
Neither side created a clear-cut chance in a tight first period, although Andrew Freeman came close for Brentwood after the interval as he shot just wide of the upright.
But Grays did fall behind 10 minutes into the half. Former Aveley striker Pet Elbi raced through and shot over the advancing Johnson to put the hosts ahead.
Town looked the more creative after the goal, but Grays pulled level from the penalty spot.
Captain Beaney stepped up and scored to level the scores, and the same man scored the decisive goal two minutes from time.
The midfielder found space and shot over on-loan Concord Rangers stopper Ollie Bowles into the net to lift Blues into seventh, four points off the play-offs.
Grays: Johnson, Ifill, Siva, Cronin, Hutchings, Symons, Michael-Percil, Beaney, Fortnam-Tomlinson, Davidson, Carlos
