Lewes 1-1 Grays Athletic
From the Dripping Pan
Ryman Premier League
BRADLEY Fortnam-Tomlinson scored at the death to secure a point for Grays Athletic at lowly Lewes.
It had been a difficult week for Mark Bentley’s men, with top scorer Dumebi Dumaka departing to join Maidstone last week, and this match proved to be a tricky assignment.
Lewes, albeit struggling at the foot of the division, have picked up some impressive results in recent weeks, and they started this match in blistering form.
It only took three minutes for the first goal to come, as Ronnie Conlon hammered home and Lewes were setting the tempo.
Conlon struck over, before some nifty footwork from the attacker almost worked another opening.
Into the second-half, Jonte Smith came close to extending the advantage only for an acrobatic clearance to keep the score 1-0.
Fortnam-Tomlinson was looking threatening but it was the hosts that came closest to netting when Smith found the net, only for the offside flag to go up.
But Fortnam-Tomlinson had the last laugh, as he netted to break Lewes hearts and boost Grays’ hopes pf a strong finish to the season.
Grays Athletic: Hadler, Ifill, Siva, Cronin, Hutchings, Symons, Michael-Percil, Beaney, Fortnam-Tomlinson, Agyemang, Davidson
