NON-LEAGUE: Dumebi Dumaka will return to Cambridge United on trial after impressing manager Shaun Derry in training recently.

The Grays Athletic striker, who has been linked with a number of clubs after hitting 15 goals already this season, spent a day at the League Two club recently.

And Derry said he needs more time to assess whether Dumaka, who missed the weekend defeat to Dulwich Hamlet, fits the bill at Cambridge.

“DD's been in form for Grays,” said Derry. “We invited him into training on Tuesday, but it's one day and it's very difficult to judge a player over one day.

“We're just keeping tabs on DD, nothing more and nothing less.

“He came with a real keenness to come and have a training day with us, which was great, and we appreciate his club letting him do that.”

Grays chairman Andy Swallow told the Gazette that Dumaka was returning to Mill Field next week, after a recent injury, before heading back on trial with Cambridge.
