Kingstonian 0-2 Grays Athletic
From the Kingsmeadow Stadium
Ryman Premier League
GRAYS Athletic narrowly missed out on the play-offs despite securing a fine win against Kingstonian.
Blues end the season having lose only one of their last 14 league matches following the 2-0 win at the K’s, with goals from Sean Cronin and Joao Carlos proving the difference.
Grays had made the trip knowing a win could have secured them a top five spot, with Enfield Town and Met Police the other sides in contention.
But after a number of first-half chances, it was two second-half moments that proved decisive for Blues.
Firstly, Cronin put the visitors ahead only two minutes after the break but they came under increasing pressure from the side who started the day only four points behind Mark Bentley’s men.
Kenny Beaney was dictating the pace in midfield, in what was his 200th game for the club, although there was not much in the encounter.
And it was 2-0 as the clock ticked down, as Carlos ended a fine individual season with a fine strike.
It all meant Enfield end the season in fifth, although Met Police’s win meant they could yet nip into the play-offs, if Town are deducted three points for allegedly fielding an ineligible player earlier in the season.
Grays Athletic: Gough, Leader, Siva, Cronin, Parry, Stevens, Ferguson, Beaney, Fortnam-Tomlinson, Agombar, Carlos
