Bognor Regis Town 1-2 Grays Athletic
From Nyewood Lane
Ryman Premier League
GRAYS Athletic made it a memorable week after winning at an improving Bognor Regis Town side.
Blues made the final of the Ryman League Cup after they beat Billericay Town in the week, and were equally impressive against Bognor Regis.
The hosts had gone unbeaten for two months but fell behind after only five minutes.
Having seen a penalty appeal turned down, Grays broke and Correy Davidson’s superb delivery was not dealt with and Nathan Ferguson was on hand to strike home for his first goal for the club.
Charlie Oatway came close for the home team although Chris Winterton had to be on form to keep out the in-form Dumebi Dumaka at bay.
It was 1-0 at the break and Davidson could have added a second after the break, but shot just wide.
Manny Parry wasted a chance and soon after the home team were level.
Terry Dodd and Jason Prior combined, with the latter striking left-footed beyond Conor Gough.
Grays could have been forgiven for taking a point but it was Grays that re-took the lead.
Substitute Jordan Wilson burst onto a through ball from Luis Morrison-Derbyshire and converted well past Winterton.
Dumaka still had time to shoot over but it was at no cost to Mark Bentley’s side, who are only eight points off the play-offs with two games in hand on several of the sides above them.
Grays Athletic: Gough, Morrison-Derbyshire, Parry, Leader, Siva, Stevens, Davidson, Beaney, Dumaka, Ferguson, Carlos
