Grays Athletic 3-1 Kingstonian
From Mill Field
Ryman Premier Division
MARK Bentley got off to a winning start as Grays Athletic got over their recent losing run to beat Kingstonian.
Goals from Joao Carlos, James Stevens and Jordan Wilson handed the hosts the points, with Elvis Hammond netting the away side’s consolation.
The win was made more impressive by Kingstonian’s successful away form, which had seen them top the form guide on their travels so far this term.
And Carlos opened the scoring for caretaker manager Bentley's men with a crashing strike from outside the box midway through the first period.
But that lead was cancelled out before the break, with Hammond netting a blockbuster equaliser, hitting into the net from 35 yards across Conor Gough.
And second half strikes from former Southend United midfielder Stevens and another from Wilson ensured the points would be staying at Mill Field.
Grays move up to 15th after the result.
Grays Athletic: Gough, Best-Riley, Siva, Leader, Parry, Stevens (Bentley), Ladapo, Beaney, Dumaka (Wilson), Fortnam-Tomlinson, Carlos (Morrison-Derbyshire)
