GRAYS ATHLETIC: GRAYS put their recent bad form behind them to beat table rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Goals from Jack West and Joao Carlos put the home side to the sword in a keenly fought match.

The home side started well and had a number of half-chances from Charlie Moone and Stuart Lake, with Grays ‘keeper Lamar Johnson making a number of decent saves. Carlos had the first real chance for Blues but struck his shot wide. Later Kenny Beaney’s free-kick was acrobatically tipped away by Rodney Chiweshe.

Grays did take the lead with ten minutes of the first half to play. Jack West latched onto a through pass and calmly slotted the ball past the onrushing keeper.

The visitors could have extended their lead into the second half when the lively Carlos smashed a shot off the post and the same player made the game safe with a goal five minutes from time. Joel Nouble saw his shot saved and Carlos hit home the rebound from the edge of the area to give Blues their first away league win since August 20.
