Rookery Hill faithful see Rocks back in play-off hunt again

There were rich pickings for Rocks as a 75th-minute goal from Sam Berry saw his side back in the play-off positions after a difficult spell.

The Rookery Hill hosts took the lead a minute before the break when the division’s top scorer, Sam Higgins, collected the ball on the edge of the box, beat a man, and shot home for the first time in five matches.

It was Higgins’ 22nd goal of the season.

Kye Ruel missed out on a good chance for the home side, watched by a 138-strong crowd, before Rocks’ keeper Richard Wray kept his side in front with a magnificent one-handed save to keep out Ryan Wade’s free-kick.

Berry grabbed Rocks’ second when he took control of a ball and hit a low shot past visiting goalkeeper Ashley Har-ris.

The struggling visitors ensured a tight finish when Luke Marshall scored from a position which looked to be offside five minutes from the end.

But Rocks were well worth their win and will look to maintain their promotion push at bottom club Harlow Town tomorrow (Tuesday).
