Waltham Forest 1, East Thurrock Utd 4 ryman 1 north: A winner-takes-all local derby battle for the title will take place at Rocks’ Rookery Hill home on Saturday’s final day of the season.
The hosts will take to the field knowing that a draw will see them to the championship crown — and only automatic promotion spot when they host Aveley with a two-point lead.
East Thurrock were not at their best in Saturday’s affair, but were still eventually too good for their spirited third-from-bottom hosts.
Rocks took the lead when Yaw Boateng gave away a needless 14th-minute penalty and Kris Newby fired home from the spot.
Newby scored his second in first-half injury-time before Forest, trying to make a fight of things, reduced the arrears with the goal of the match from Yacine Hamada.
Ben Wood made it 3-1 10 minutes from time before ex-Great Wakering striker Martin Touhy grabbed his 50th goal of the campaign in making it 4-1 in the closing minutes.
