THE MATCH: East Thurrock United manager John Coventry is hopeful that crossing the 46 point mark will take some pressure off his team in the closing weeks of the season.

Rocks can reach 50 points for the season with victory over FA Trophy semi-finalists Wealdstone tomorrow afternoon.

East Thurrock’s 4-1 victory over Concord Rangers on Tuesday showcased some of their best football of the season so far.

And they will be determined to replicate that display against Wealdstone, who have lost each of their last four matches in league and cup.

The reverse fixture ended 1-1 and Rocks will be targeting a points return with tough-looking fixtures against Dartford, Havant & Waterlooville and Chelmsford City coming up.

THE INSIGHT: “I am realistic,” said Coventry. “We have some hard games coming up but providing I see the attitude I saw on Tuesday then I will be happy. I would like more points of course but I accept getting beaten if players give everything.

“As a manager you try different things in terms of team selection and formation and we did it right the other day. But I want them to know how hard they had to work to get the points.

“Wealdstone are a very good side and an expensive bunch of players. They did exceptionally well in the FA Trophy and they still have a chance to reach the play-offs.

“It is a difficult place to play.

THE TEAM NEWS: Sammy Knott returns, Coventry will rotate the squad ahead of Monday’s game against Dartford.
