East Thurrock United manager John Coventry has called on his team to kick on and secure their league position ahead of tonight’s clash with Poole City.

Rocks had not won in eight matches until they defeated Bognor Regis Town 2-0 on Saturday.

Goals from Reece Harris and Sam Higgins handed Rocks an important win that took them 12 points above the drop zone with 10 games remaining.

And they will fancy their chances against Poole, who remain in the bottom three ahead of tonight’s clash at the FutureFuel Stadium.

Although Coventry says the game is in some doubt due to the snow.

“Poole beat Dartford on the road recently but I heard they weren’t great against Bath City on Saturday [Poole lost 4-0 at home] so who knows what team will turn up,” said Coventry.

“The problem again is the weather. I know the snow that is on the pitch will be gone tomorrow but it will be soaked. We can’t go on it at the moment so we have notified Poole and we will have to wait and see.

“We are running out of spare Tuesdays to play on and we do not want to play on Thursdays.

“The performance [against Bognor] wasn’t fantastic but it isn’t about that this time of the year,” he added. “Confidence is not that high and we are close to getting over the line. We have looked tense but that is understandable and hopefully now we can push on and earn the right to be relaxed.”
