EAST Thurrock United endured an afternoon to forget in the National League South as Bath City ran riot in a thumping 4-0 win.

Rocks had not won in the league for two months, and were up against a Bath side who had struggled at home in large parts.

And the away side did create some good opportunities in the first 15 minutes, without getting the breakthrough.

Tom Richardson, starting his first away game in the league, slotted wide after being fed by Sam Higgins.

East Thurrock had Harry Wright between the posts again, and he did well to bat away a Tom Smith drive before Bath did take the lead.

Opi Edwards made ground into the penalty area and drilled inside the post.

Spurred on, Higgins powered a shot wide of the upright but there was little in the contest.

Both goalkeepers were being kept busy but it was Bath that forged further ahead before the break.

Miles Welch-Hayes curled an excellent strike into the far corner after some quick-thinking from a free-kick.

And two became three as half-time beckoned. Andy Watkins scoring a third in injury-time to all but wrap up the points before half-time.

It wasn’t to improve after the break. Tom Smith made it 4-0 as East Thurrock look for a better result next time out.
