A STRONG East Thurrock United side romped to victory over Great Wakering Rovers in the Essex Senior Cup third round.

There were six goals in a jam-packed first 35 minutes, as Rocks handed a debut to new addition Tom Richardson.

But it was Montel Agyemang that netted the opener after just three minutes.

The National League South team were strong favourites against a team three divisions below them, but two minutes after falling behind Rovers were level.

Jake Gordon scored, only for Lewis Smith to score on his return to the team following suspension.

Calvin Ekpiteta scored his first goal for the club on 15 minutes and when Smith scored his second from the penalty spot on 20 minutes the game looked all but over.

Aaron Russell pulled a goal back 10 minutes later from the penalty spot and that was it until 20 minutes from time.

Richardson scored on his bow to make it 5-2 and round off a good evening’s work for John Coventry’s charges.
