EAST Thurrock United can consider themselves unfortunate not to have taken all three points as their second-half efforts against St Albans City went unrewarded.

Sam Higgins scored Rocks’ equaliser but the home side couldn’t force a winner.

St Albans created the first opportunity after 10 minutes, the dangerous Rhys Murrell-Williamson firing at goal from 25 yards, with Lukas Lidakevicius tipping the swirling strike away.

Tom Bender nodded wide from the corner, before Murrell-Williamson got his goal 60 seconds later.

The winger raced in behind Reece Harris and slotted low into the goal.

Rocks grew into it after a slow start and deservedly drew level 10 minutes before the break.

Marvin Ekpiteta did well to help recycle a corner, with the ball striking a St Albans player’s arm on the floor.

A penalty was awarded and Sam Higgins made no mistake from 12 yards.

Into the second period, Dean Snedeker was forced into an excellent save in the away goal to halt Montel Agyemang, as the hosts started to take the initiative.

Lewis Smith saw a shot tipped past the near post, with Lee Burns heading wide from five yards out from a corner.

But it wasn't to be for Rocks who were made to share the spoils.
