l RUNDOWN: East Thurrock United have mid-tables clashes against Bath City and Eastbourne Borough to savour this bank holiday weekend.

Rocks welcome Bath to Rookery Hill tomorrow (3pm) hoping to end a run of three straight defeats in league and cup.

All of East Thurrock’s remaining league fixtures are against sides safe from relegation and highly unlikely to feature in a play-off chase.

And this may give the Rocks faithful hope their season will not peter out as they bid to secure a top half finish.

John Coventry’s team were beaten 2-1 by league leaders Maidenhead United last weekend, putting in a valiant show against the division’s top dogs.

One last push is now needed ahead of the summer break.

Bath crushed Concord Rangers 5-0 last weekend, having been hit for five themselves by Maidenhead the previous week.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “At this stage of the season we would be happy to see the season finish to be honest.

“That said, we are not going through the motions but it is harder to get up for games.

“Neither Bath or us have much to play for other than league position but we will do our best and make sure the players mind-set is in the right place.

"I know a bit about Bath and they are a well organised and well managed side.

“They had some good success at Concord and I am sure they would like to repeat that."

l TEAM NEWS: Midfielder Scott Heard returns to Dagenham & Redbridge, Ben Marlow will not feature over the course of the weekend. Femi Akinwande’s loan spell has also expired.
