EAST Thurrock United boss John Coventry is taking nothing for granted ahead of tonight’s National League South clash with Margate.

Rocks beat Hampton & Richmond Borough 2-1 on Saturday and can further boost their survival hopes with victory against the lowly Kent side - who have lost 17 of the last 18 matches and have scored just once in the last 10 games.

“It is a game we should win,” he said. “Everyone that plays Margate should be favourites but this is football. We will turn up with the attitude we had against Hampton and try and win the game.

“Two weeks ago we wouldn’t have beaten Hampton for several reasons. We had to patch the team up and put square pegs in round holes. But we won.”

Victory would move Rocks to within a victory of Coventry’s 45 point target for survival and he says it is a big incentive for his players.

“I have set a target but should we get that win tonight it changes the objective,” he said. “If we have won two then let’s see where we end up.”

Michael Clark will not feature, while Joe Gardner has left the club.
