East Thurrock United 1-1 Dartford

IT was a tale of two penalties as East Thurrock United shared the points with Dartford.

Ben Marlow scored one and missed one from 12 yards as Rocks conceded late on against the Darts, although it could have been so much better as Reece Harris hit the crossbar in the closing exchanges with a thunderous drive.

The best effort of the first-half fell to in-form Tom Wraight in the 27th minute, as he picked up the ball from a low corner, took the ball round his marker and hit a right footed effort from 10 yards only for the woodwork to deny him.

The visitor's best chance followed in the 33rd minute, when midfielder Alley Brown struck from 30 yards, but his curling effort went narrowly wide, nicking the post on the way through.

Rocks opened the scoring in the 57th minute after Wraight was brought down in the area.

Up stepped Marlow and he coolly converted the spot kick, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner and sending the keeper the wrong way.

Just six minutes later Rocks had another golden chance to extend their lead when Wraight, once again, was felled in the box.

But goalkeeper Deren Ibrahim guessed the right way at the second time of asking, denying Marlow his second goal from the spot.

Dartford had a great chance to draw level in the 72nd minute, as substitute Ryan Hayes made a fine run down the right wing and whipped a ball across the box, but it just eluded the on-rushing strikers.

But they were to draw level 13 minutes from time, thanks to a left footed strike by Hayes from inside the box, curling the ball across the goal and into the bottom left corner.

Harris came close late on but it was to stay all square as East Thurrock turn their attentions to Monday night's match at Chelmsford City.
