East Thurrock United 0-0 Staines Town

EAST Thurrock United slipped further behind their rivals in the chase for automatic promotion after a stalemate against strugglers Staines Town.
Rocks had a number of golden chances to win the match but were unable to find the breakthrough they so desperately wanted.
It was Staines that almost opened the scoring when a miss-hit cross from Tommy Wright caught out Lucas Lidakevicius only for the stopper to react impressively.
But the best chance of the half belonged to the home team. A long throw from James Walker found 39-goal Sam Higgins who in turn fed Tom Wraight, and he was only kept out by a top save from Jack Turner.
Higgins was halted by a goal line clearance, with Wraight again unable to find the net when in a promising position.
Kris Newby saw a shot blocked as the home team pushed for the winner but it wasn’t forthcoming against the side who knocked Rocks out of the FA Cup earlier in the season.
The result keeps Rocks in second position, albeit seven points behind leaders Hampton & Richmond Borough with just six games remaining.
East Thurrock United: Lidakevicius, Sammons, Knott, Ellul, Hayles, Wood, Newby (Morgan), Craddock, Higgins, Walker (Ruel), Wraight
