THE PREVIEW: East Thurrock will continue their promotion bid when they visit Leatherhead tomorrow, hoping to add three more points to an already record total.

With eight games to play Rocks have already surpassed their best points tally from previous seasons in the division (70 in 2012/13) and have won more games to boot as well.

John Coventry’s team made light work of third-placed Tonbridge Angels last weekend and travel to Surrey tomorrow eager to continue their hugely impressive away run this campaign.

Rocks have the best away record in the league, and have not suffered an away reverse since a 3-1 loss at Billericay on October 24. Leatherhead have not won in their last five games, losing four.

WHAT HE SAID: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “Leatherhead will be a very tough game, as the league table may indicate they have little to play for.

“But they are signing players and have added a very good player in Matt Bodkin from Maidstone this week, so they want to end the season strongly.

“But we are in a good place and I am keeping the players focused on the next game. I am pleased with how we have done in terms of points but that doesn’t mean I want to stop here.

“I am very proud of what this club has achieved in my time here and I would love to say we played in the National League South as well.”
