EAST Thurrock United returned to the top of the Ryman Premier League following a 3-0 victory at struggling Farnborough.
Goals from Tom Wraight, Sam Higgins and Joe Ellul ensured the points, although the night was slightly tainted by the dismissal of Lewis Smith after he was involved in a brawl that also saw Boro’s Josh Gallagher dismissed.
Boro stopper Aaron Bufton was the busier of the two goalkeeper’s early, on as he kept out Smith and Higgins, and he had to be alert to keep out a marauding Wraight soon after.
But Wraight did open his account with a terrific strike shortly before half-time. A free-kick was tapped to the winger and he hammered home his 17th goal of a terrific first season at Rocks.
Charlie Allen had a header cleared off the line as Farnborough threatened but, 10 minutes after the break, Higgins doubled the lead with a volleyed finish.
And the result was assured before the hour mark when Ellul profited from some lapse defending from a corner to strike home.
Smith was dismissed, along with Gallagher, with 15 minutes to go as Rocks wrapped up the points.
East Thurrock United: Lidakevicius, Sammons, Knott (Ruel), Ellul, Wood, Robson, Smith, Marlow (Hogan), Higgins, Walker (Newby), Wraight
