THE PREVIEW: East Thurrock’s winning run came to an end against Needham Market in the week but they will be determined to bounce back against Wingate & Finchley.

Rocks sit 13th in the league but are only seven points off the play-off positions with a number of games in hand on the sides above them.

Wingate & Finchley have had a terrific start to the season – sitting fourth having won 11 of their 19 games. Five of those 11 wins have come away from home, with Rob Laney (seven goals) a potent threat.

But Rocks, as the division’s second highest scorers, will be looking to Lewis Smith for inspiration once again – having scored 18 times already this season.

WHAT HE SAYS: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “Tuesday’s game was a farce to be honest. It should have been called off as we have advertising boards coming loose and the stand was rattling in the wind. All three goals were own goals but it has happened and we have to move past it.

“If I had my strongest 11 available I would be confident of getting a result but we are so depleted. We will do as best as we always do, but we have eight players missing and that would hurt any team.”
