East Thurrock United 4–0 South Park
From Rookery Hill
FA Trophy first qualifying round
EAST Thurrock United rocked South Park to easily seal their passage into the next round of the FA Trophy.
John Coventry’s men were 4-0 winners against the side from the Ryman One South, leading 3-0 at the break thanks to strikes from Lewis Smith, Mitchell Gilbey and Ryan Scott.
Harry Honesty added a late fourth, proving Rocks are more than a one man team in the absence of striker Sam Higgins.
Smith opened the scoring after just three minutes, with a close range volley at the back post, following an inch-perfect cross by Tom Wraight.
Gilbey doubled the lead on eight minutes, heading in at the back post after a fierce cross from the right by Ryan Sammons.
Rocks were impressive and could have stretched their lead further before the third goal did come after 25 minutes.
Scott scored it from a few yards out after a corner dropped to him in the box.
South Park enjoyed a much better second-half and did threaten several time to get on the score sheet, although the home side defended well.
Substitute Honesty made it 4-0 two minutes from time, striking home from eight yards out after some impressive hold up play and a good pass from James Walker.
Gilbey, Walker and the impressive Tom Wraight all had chances to score, with a combination of the crossbar and some fine goalkeeping keeping them at bay.
East Thurrock: Lidakevicius, Sammons, Knott (Miller), Scott, Hayles, Wood, Smith (Anderson), Robson (Honesty), Walker, Gilbey, Wraight
