THE PREVIEW: East Thurrock put their weekend disappointment behind them with a terrific 3-0 win at table-topping Leiston on Wednesday.
A Sam Higgins hat-trick helped Rocks record their second win in a fortnight against the Suffolk outfit, keeping a clean sheet in the process after shipping six times against Staines on Saturday in the FA Cup.` The result lifted East Thurrock to 17th in the league although they have a number of games in hand over their opponents.
Bognor Regis sit third in the division, only two points off top spot but they were beaten by East Thurrock in the corresponding fixture last season, with Lewis Smith, left, netting the only goal.
WHAT HE SAYS: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “I really wanted to keep a clean sheet at Leiston after last weekend and I know we are always capable of scoring so it turned into a very good night – I even smiled at one point!
“We have loads of ability in this team and, although we are 17th, Bognor won’t be underestimating us. We have the players but the performance isn’t always there.
“We have a tough little run with Billericay coming up so if we can get a result tomorrow we will be in a good place.”
