East Thurrock United 2–4 Hendon

EAST Thurrock United’s search for a home win goes on as they let a lead slip again to go down 4-2 to Hendon.

Goals from Ryan Scott and Lewis Smith weren’t enough for 10 man Rocks who saw Rickie Hayles dismissed in the second-half.

And the red card gave the away side the impetus to go on and score two late goals, before they saw their own man dismissed.

Rocks had played out a thrilling 4-4 draw on Saturday afternoon, having led 3-0, and this was another feisty encounter.

Hendon had thrown away a two-goal lead to lose to Canvey Island at the weekend but they fell behind early in this match.

Ryan Scott, restored to the starting line-up, hit his first goal for his new club with just five minutes on the clock.

And that was how it stayed until half-time, although both teams raced out of the blocks in the second-half.

Aaron Morgan slotted two minutes into the second-half to draw the visitors level.

But Smith scored his third goal in four days to put them 2-1 up from the penalty spot just five minutes later.

But Sam Murphy scored a penalty of his own with 20 minutes to go before Rocks saw Hayles sent off.

And Hendon kicked on from there. They went ahead with four minutes to play, thanks to Leon Smith’s strike before Morgan was shown a red card.

But there was still time for substitute Andre Da Costa to net and cap an impressive night’s work for Hendon.
