THE PREVIEW: East Thurrock salvaged a last-gasp point against Leatherhead on Saturday, having thrown away a 3-0 lead in that match to draw 4-4, with their search for a first home win of term continuing tonight against Hendon.
Rocks inflicted Hendon’s first home defeat in 21 league games last month, and the beleaguered Londoners have struggled ever since. Three consecutive defeats have followed that loss and they arrive at Rookery Hill bereft of confidence.
However, East Thurrock have not had the best of starts and, despite only losing one game, they will be hoping to kick on tonight, with six-goal Lewis Smith set to continue in his central role.
WHAT HE SAID: Rocks boss John Coventry said: “I am fortunate that I have a very good record against Hendon. I don’t think I have lost against them in seven games so that is a plus and we are unbeaten at home so it is not all bad.
“We have a few players back as well so we should be in a better position than on Saturday so we are getting there.
“It is always a tough game against them. Hendon are a side who may be struggling for results but not performances I don’t think. I think it is probably a lack of confidence as they are going ahead in games. I have no doubt they will turn it around.”
