JOHN Coventry has insisted he will field a strong side against Hungerford Town tonight – only four days before his side face Hartlepool United in the FA Cup.

East Thurrock United drew 1-1 with the Southern Premier League side on Saturday, ensuring the replay would take place in the week.

But Coventry says he is looking forward to the match-up, saying a victory in the first qualifying round would be handy to the club’s coffers, with the winners netting £2,700.

“I will be putting out a strong side capable of winning the match,” said the Rocks boss. “We could have lost at the weekend and I would rather be playing a replay than have gone out.

“It would have been nice to have a week to prepare for the FA Cup but the replay is a chance to win a bit more money which would be significant for the club.”

Reece Harris’ strike was enough to take the tie to a replay and, should East Thurrock win tonight, they will host Southern Premier League side Arlesey Town at Rookery Hill on November 15.
