NON LEAGUE: EAST Thurrock suffered a 3-1 defeat at Bognor Regis, who played the final 20 minutes with 10 men.

Tom Stephen got Rocks’ consolation from the penalty spot as a brace from Terry Dodd and a Kane Wills strike put Bognor in control.

East Thurrock goalkeeper David Hughes made a good save to deny Ben Godfrey after two minutes but Dodd put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute wth a left-footed shot following a run into the box.

Two minutes later Rocks were level when David Bryant’s shot hit Craig Robson and the referee awarded a penalty which Stephen converted. But Bognor restored their lead in the 24th minute through Wills, who sent a curling shot beyond Hughes from James Crane’s cross.

Dodd had an effort over the bar before he got his second in the 33rd minute when he headed home an Ollie Pearce cross at the far post.

Bognor were reduced to 10 men in the 71st minute when Robson received his second booking for a late tackle. His earlier one was for the handball which led to the penalty.

Rocks tried to make the extra man count but Bognor went closest when Aaron Hopkinson hit the post before forcing a good save from Hughes.

The win pushed Bognor up to sixth in the Ryman Premier table.
