Despite Town loss, Millers still have chance of glory

NON-League Preview: Despite their 2-1 defeat at Billericay Town on Tuesday night, Aveley are still in line for a place in the end of season Ryman Premier play-offs.

But they may need to win both their final games if they are to achieve it.

The Millers go to Horsham tonight before hosting fellow play-off hopefuls Tonbridge Angels on Saturday.

With previous boss Jody Prevwell having stood down due to work commitments, midfielder Sean Merchant has taken over as caretaker manager of Basildon United in the Essex Senior League.And a double from Wes Bockingn helped the new towners, who visit Hullbriudge Sports tonight, beat visitors Takeley 2-1 on Tuesday.

Hullbridge had drawn 1-1 at Eton Manor on Monday thanks to an 80th minute Paul Tiffen goal.

Also on Tuesday, an 86th minute penalty from Danny Stanley was not enough to save Southend Manor from 2-1 defeat at Barking. Manor host London APSA this evening. Bowers and Pitsea pulled off a 2-1 win at Tiptree thanks to a brace from Michael Deykeyzer.
