Millers point should have been more

Bognor Regis Town 1, Aveley 1 THE Millers picked up a vital point at relegation-threatened Bognor, but it could have been three. The visitors took a 21st-minute lead when home defender Lewis Dunk was left looking a donut when he miscued a clearance into his own net.

Bognor had started the brighter and could have taken an 18th-minute lead when, after keeper Ollie Morris-Sanders had parried a George Barker effort, James Crane’s header was cleared off the line by Ryan Doyle.

Only a fine Anthony Ender fingertip save stopped Aveley increasing their lead from top scorer Martin Tuohy’s curling drive.

Bognor grabbed their equaliser on 77 minutes when Richard Hudson scored from the penalty spot after a handling offence.

Millers could have won after that but Doyle’s free-kick crashed against an upright. Aveley, moving ever-closer to safety in their first season in the top flight, visit Cray Wanderers tomorrow.
