Hat-trick hero Doyle and Millers are thwarted
Witham Town 3, Aveley 3
AVELEY and hat-trick hero Ryan Doyle were denied victory in this Essex Ryman League Division One North derby deep into added time.
Witham took lead after six minutes when a shot from Dave Hawes deceived Millers keeper Adam Rafis as it hit a bobble on the pitch and went in.
Aveley equalised after 38 minutes when Kye Ruel's corner from the left was headed in by Doyle from close range and the visitors took the lead three minutes into the second half when Doyle again got on the end of a Ruel cross, this time shooting home past Stuart Crumpen.
Witham showed their battling qualities to draw level after 55 minutes when Kody McDonald's shot from just inside the area crept inside a post.
Doyle got his hat-trick on 71 minutes from the penalty spot after Ainsley Gasper was felled in the area.
But Witham grabbed an equaliser in the fourth minute of added time when they got a free kick and Kevin Hawes' strike hit the post and Aveley could only agonise as it crawled along the line and in.
