Tonbridge Angels 3, Aveley 2 Millers twice led, but eventually returned from Kent with no reward.
After ex-Billericay man Steve Ferguson had gone close for the hosts, and Sherwin Stanley did likewise for Aveley, Matt Johnson gave the visitors a 26th-minute lead.
Angels responded with a 33rd-minute header from Tom Bryant to level the scores.
Junior Dadson’s 51st minute close range effort saw Millers back in front but Tonbridge equalised through Paul Booth’s header on 67 minutes. And a third scoring aerial effort, this time from Mark Cumberbatch, settled the points in the Kent side’s favour 16 minutes from time.
Aveley are in League Cup round one action at Folkestone Invicta tomorrow (Tuesday 10 November).
